About Us

Welcome to Heacham and to the Church of St Mary.

My wife, Alison, and I have been here since May 2007 having moved from Winchester which had been our home for over twenty years. This area was new to us and we came with all sorts of feelings. We have been very warmly received and welcomed into the community of church and village. I hope and pray that you enjoy living here.

There are a variety of shops in the village and a range of leisure opportunities. At the beginning of each month a Village Newsletter is published and is available from the church and many other places, e.g. all the shops, free of charge. Do pick one up so that you can keep up to date with what is happening in the village.

Our Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin has been a visible Christian witness in this area since 1230AD, standing at the junction of Church Lane and Hunstanton Road.

There is also a Methodist Church in Station Road (opposite the chemist). The Methodist Minister is the Revd. Kim Nally (01485 570232) who will be able to talk to you about the Methodist Circuit.

There are a variety of services at the Parish Church each Sunday with provision for children at the 10.00am service. More details about the services are given below.

A second congregation meets in the Junior School in College Drive at 10.30am every Sunday morning (except August) to which you would be made very welcome. During August, while the school is closed, everyone meets together in the Church for the 10.00am service.

At various points during the year there are special services, for example Easter, Harvest and Christmas; the details are printed in the Village Newsletter and on the church pages of the village website as well as posted on the notice boards at the Church and Church Hall in the High Street.

Arrangements for Baptisms, Thanksgivings, Memorial services, Confirmations, and Weddings can be made directly with me or the Church Office in the High Street on 01485 572539.

Other specific acts of worship can also be arranged, for example many people welcome a Blessing for their new home or want to celebrate a family event with a service of worship in the church.

Do not miss the Christian Bookshop in Lodge Road (just beyond the Coop) which stocks a variety of cards, gifts and Fairtrade food items as well as books.

Details of other activities can be found below and if you have any other questions please contact me or the Church Office.

We hope this church will soon become your spiritual home where you will find refreshment, encouragement, a place to belong, and above all where you will know the love of God as we travel our journey in faith together.

I look forward to meeting you.
